Art Deco engagement rings are defined by geometry: GIA’s 2018 guide dates the style to the 1920s and 1930s and points to triangles, squares, rectangles and contrasting colors. The three settings below are newly made in that spirit, with baguette and triangle diamonds, and cost from $1,490 to $2,655 without a center stone on 6 November 2026: two from Brilliant Earth, which sells them as Art Deco, and one from Rare Carat. A matching baguette band completes the list. If you want a ring actually made in the period, the second half of this page covers what changes when you buy one.
How we are paid. RingReel earns a commission from Rare Carat through the Awin network when you buy through a Rare Carat link on this page, at no cost to you. Brilliant Earth pays us nothing for its links: we have no active program with it, and we list it because it is on our approved list of jewelers. Nothing here was bought or handled: it is researched, not tested.

Key Takeaways
- GIA’s 2018 guide dates Art Deco to the 1920s and 1930s and describes geometric patterns and abstract designs, brought to life with diamonds and gems of contrasting colors.
- Brilliant Earth’s 2026 guide ties the style to Asscher and emerald cuts, baguettes and calibré stones, typically set in platinum or white gold.
- GIA defines an antique as more than 100 years old, so a ring made in 1926 crossed that line this year; anything later in the era is still vintage.
- Brilliant Earth names its two picks Art Deco; Rare Carat describes the Halle only as a tapered baguette three-stone, and calling it Deco is our reading.
- GIA warns that antique and vintage rings can be very difficult to resize, while the new settings here come with a free resize in the first year.

How We Chose
- Geometry named in the listing. Each pick’s own description names a baguette, triangle or tapered baguette, the step-cut accents most tied to the era. A ring that merely looks old was left out.
- The label is the jeweler’s, or we say it is ours. Brilliant Earth calls the Edie and Daphne art deco-inspired. Rare Carat does not use the word for the Halle, and we say so on its card.
- Jewelers from our approved list. Three picks are from Brilliant Earth and one from Rare Carat. Other stores and antique dealers sell Deco rings; they are not ranked lower, they are simply not on our list.
- Nothing bought or handled. Every detail comes from the product pages as read on 6 November 2026.
- No repeats. Rare Carat’s Vintage Cathedral Half-Moon, with its geometric half-moon stones, is already a pick on our page of vintage engagement rings, so it is not repeated here.
What Makes a Ring Art Deco
The style is easier to recognize than to define, but GIA and Brilliant Earth agree on the main signs. Here is what each says, side by side.
| Sign | GIA (2018) | Brilliant Earth (2026) | Which pick shows it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Geometry | Triangles, squares, rectangles and other geometric patterns | Architectural precision and geometry | Edie, Daphne, Halle |
| Step cuts | Not named as a sign | Asscher and emerald cuts and baguettes | Baguettes on all four |
| Contrasting color | Diamonds and gems of contrasting colors | Calibré stones such as sapphire or onyx | None: all four are white diamonds |
| Metal | Not named | Typically platinum or white gold | All offered in white metal |
| Old cuts | Old European cut found in Art Deco jewelry | Not named | Edie and Daphne take an old mine center |
Geometry and Step Cuts
GIA describes the period as using triangles, squares, rectangles and other geometric patterns to evoke the streamlined, modern spirit of the time. Brilliant Earth’s 2026 guide adds the stones that carry that geometry: Asscher and emerald cuts and baguettes, and it calls step cuts quintessentially Art Deco. The Edie uses triangles and baguettes, the Daphne alternates baguettes with rounds, and the Halle sets two large tapered baguettes beside the center. For the shapes themselves, see our guide to engagement ring shapes, and for a step-cut center, our page on emerald cut engagement rings.
Contrast and Calibré Stones
GIA’s caption on a classic Deco ring describes an emerald cut diamond bordered by emeralds, and Brilliant Earth names tiny sapphires, onyx or rubies cut to fit into channels as a signature of the era. None of our picks has colored stones: they are white diamonds only. If color is part of the look you want, our page on sapphire engagement rings is the place to start, and a jeweler doing custom engagement rings can set calibré stones into a band. GIA also notes that during the Art Deco era, small calibré cut synthetic rubies and sapphires often accented diamonds, which matters if you buy an original.
Platinum and White Gold
Brilliant Earth says Deco rings were typically set in platinum or white gold, and that white gold was introduced in the 1920s as a more affordable alternative to platinum. All four picks are offered in a white metal. The two Brilliant Earth settings are priced here in 14K yellow gold, because that is the version their listings open on, and both list white gold and platinum among their metals. For how the two white metals wear, see our comparison of platinum vs white gold.
Modern and Gold Art Deco Rings
Not every Deco-inspired ring follows the period strictly, and the two most common departures are yellow gold and a softer, more modern line.
Gold Art Deco Engagement Rings
Brilliant Earth offers its Art Deco rings in white, yellow and rose gold as well as platinum. Yellow gold is less typical of the original period by Brilliant Earth’s own account, which points to platinum and white gold, but it is how both Brilliant Earth picks are priced on their listings. If you want the geometry without the cool tone of white metal, yellow gold is the modern reading of the style.
Modern Art Deco Rings
A modern Deco ring keeps the geometry and drops the ornament. The Daphne, with its slim 1.5mm band and alternating stones, is the most restrained of the picks. The Halle is the boldest: two tapered baguettes weighing over half a carat between them, on a band about 2.6 millimeters wide. Both read as Deco from the side stones alone, without milgrain or engraving.
Art Deco Oval and Other Centers
The geometry sits in the setting, so the center does not have to be a step cut. The Edie and Daphne take an oval, pear or marquise as well as an Asscher or emerald, and Rare Carat says the Halle can be set with any shape diamond. An oval inside baguettes softens the look; an Asscher sharpens it.
Buying an Original 1920s Ring
If a new ring in the style is not enough, GIA’s 2018 guide is the most useful checklist we found for buying a real one.
Antique or Vintage: The 1926 Line
GIA defines antique jewelry as made more than 100 years ago, and vintage as not contemporary but not old enough to be antique. Art Deco ran through the 1920s and 1930s, so by GIA’s definition a ring from the early part of the era is now antique, and one from the 1930s is still vintage. On our arithmetic, a ring made in 1926 turned 100 this year, and the line moves forward a year every year. When a dealer calls a Deco ring antique, ask for the date of manufacture, because the word alone does not tell you which side of the line it is on.
What GIA Says to Check
- The stones may not be original. GIA notes that small calibré cut synthetic rubies and sapphires often accented diamonds in Deco jewelry, so a period ring can contain synthetic stones without being a fake.
- Resizing can be very difficult. GIA says antique and vintage rings can be very difficult to resize, especially to go significantly larger or smaller.
- Get at least seven days to return it. GIA says you should insist on no less.
- Price says little about age. GIA puts antique and vintage engagement rings at less than $1,000 to more than $100,000.
New or Original: The Trade-Off
The new settings on this page come with a free resize in the first year at both jewelers and a return window that runs to January 15, 2027 at Rare Carat for holiday orders. An original comes with history, possibly an old European cut stone, which GIA says is typical of Deco jewelry, and terms set by the seller. Our vintage engagement rings page has GIA’s full checklist for antiques and the other eras next to Art Deco.
Living With an Art Deco Ring
Cleaning Step Cuts and Small Stones
Brilliant Earth says its Art Deco rings can be cleaned at home with warm water, mild soap and a soft brush, and that professional cleaning now and then helps maintain the detail. Baguettes and triangles have flat, open facets, so grime shows on them sooner than on a round brilliant. Our guide on how to clean an engagement ring covers the routine.
Resizing
Brilliant Earth says its Art Deco rings can typically be resized by its specialists, but that certain intricate or eternity style designs may have limited resizing options. That is worth a question before you order the Edie or the Memoir, whose stones run along the band.
Which Art Deco Engagement Ring Fits You?
| If you want | Pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The strongest Deco geometry | Brilliant Earth Edie | Triangle and baguette accents, 1,790 dollars in 14K yellow gold |
| A finer, lighter line | Brilliant Earth Daphne | Alternating rounds and baguettes, 1,490 dollars in 14K yellow gold |
| Large baguettes and a three-stone look | Rare Carat Halle | Two tapered baguettes, 2,655 dollars in 14K |
| A band to match | Brilliant Earth Memoir | Eight bar-set baguettes, 990 dollars in 18K white gold |
| Colored calibré stones | A custom ring | None of our picks has colored accents |
All prices in this table are for the setting only unless stated, read on 6 November 2026. For other one-of-a-kind looks, see our unique engagement rings, and for how the cathedral and other mounts compare, our guide to engagement ring settings.
Frequently Asked Questions
What Is an Art Deco Baguette Engagement Ring?
It is a ring whose side stones are baguettes, the long rectangular step cut that Brilliant Earth ties to the Art Deco era. The baguettes frame the center and give the ring its straight-edged geometry. On this page the Edie, Daphne and Halle all use them, and the Memoir band carries eight in a row.
Are Gold Art Deco Engagement Rings Authentic to the Period?
Gold rings are sold in the style, but they are a modern reading of it. Brilliant Earth says original Deco rings were typically set in platinum or white gold, and that white gold arrived in the 1920s as a cheaper alternative to platinum. A yellow gold Deco ring keeps the geometry and changes the tone.
Can Art Deco Engagement Rings Be Resized?
New ones usually can. Both jewelers on this page offer a free resize in the first year, though Brilliant Earth notes intricate designs may be limited. Original rings are harder: GIA warns antique and vintage rings can be very difficult to resize, especially by several sizes, so check the size before you buy.
What Is the Difference Between Art Deco and Vintage Engagement Rings?
Vintage describes age, and Art Deco describes a style. GIA calls a ring vintage when it is not contemporary but under 100 years old, and dates Art Deco to the 1920s and 1930s. So an original Deco ring is vintage or antique by age, and a new Deco-style ring is neither.
