What lab grown diamond engagement rings cost depends as much on the setting as on the stone, so we priced whole rings, not loose diamonds. On 2 October 2026 we priced five finished rings at Rare Carat, each with an H color, VS1 clarity lab diamond in 14K white gold: 1,325 dollars for a 1 carat radiant solitaire, 2,270 dollars for a 1.5 carat asscher, 2,060 dollars for a 2 carat cushion and 2,990 dollars for a 3 carat radiant three-stone. Every center stone has an IGI report, and we opened each one, because the report says things the listing does not.
How we are paid. RingReel earns a commission from Rare Carat through the Awin network when you buy through a Rare Carat link on this page, at no cost to you. The picks come from the listings and terms below, not from who pays. Nothing here was bought or handled: it is researched, not tested.
One retailer, five configurations. Every ring on this page is a Rare Carat configuration, so this is not a comparison of the whole lab-grown market. For other stores, including Ouros Jewels, see the best places to buy lab-grown diamonds. The photos are Rare Carat’s listing photos of the setting and do not always show the exact stone priced; where they differ, the caption under the photo says so.

Key Takeaways
- At about 1 carat, the metal setting is most of the price: on the Bianca, the 1.02 carat diamond was 435 dollars and the setting 890. The diamond only passed half of the ring’s price at 2 carats.
- On the same Bianca setting, a 4.01 carat radiant made a 2,940 dollar ring and a 5.01 carat radiant a 3,660 dollar one. Almost five times the carat weight cost less than three times the price.
- All five center stones carry IGI reports, and all five reports say the diamond was grown by chemical vapor deposition (CVD). None of the five Rare Carat pages says CVD or HPHT anywhere.
- Two of the five listings do not say whether their side diamonds are lab-grown or mined.

Best for: A buyer who wants a 1 carat lab diamond in a finished ring for the lowest price on this page.
Rare Carat describes a band that "turns gently as it rises to the head" and a gallery basket under the stone, with no side diamonds, so the radiant center carries the whole ring.

What we like

- The diamond page links the stone's IGI report, so the grades can be checked before paying

Keep in mind

Best three-stone around 1 carat
Rare Carat Kamryn Three Stone Ring With 1.05 Carat Cushion Lab Diamond
by Rare Carat
Complete ring: center stone included
Best for: A buyer who wants a three-stone ring with a 1 carat lab center and prefers an elongated cushion to a round.
At a length-to-width ratio of 1.25 the center is an elongated cushion, and the two side diamonds add a third of a carat beside it.

Photo shows the setting with a round center. The price here is for a 1.05 ct cushion diamond.
What we like
- A complete three-stone ring with the center diamond's grades and IGI report number stated
- The earliest delivery date of the five when we looked: 8 October for an order placed on 2 October
- A matching Kamryn pavé band is offered at $945
Keep in mind
- The listing does not say whether the two side diamonds are lab-grown or mined, or give their grades
- The product photo shows the setting with a round center, not the cushion priced here
- No reviews, feature list or written description beyond the name were shown on the page
- Price range

Best asscher, about 1.5 carats
Rare Carat Kennedy Pave Engagement Ring With 1.52 Carat Asscher Lab Diamond
by Rare Carat
Complete ring: center stone included
Best for: A buyer who wants a square step-cut asscher on a slim pavé band at about one and a half carats.
Rare Carat lists a "Slim 1.4 - 1.5mm Band" with twenty round diamonds running halfway down each side, under a square step-cut stone.

What we like
- The most reviewed setting of the five, with 89 reviews shown on the page
- The listing gives the band width, which most of these listings leave out
- A matching Kennedy pavé contoured band is offered at $990
Keep in mind
- The setting is the most expensive of the five at $1,380, so the ring costs more than the 2 carat pick
- The listing does not say whether the 20 side diamonds are lab-grown or mined
- A 1.40mm band is slim under a square stone, and a resize ends the right to return it
- Price range
- $2,270 complete: $1,380 for the setting and $890 for the 1.52 ct lab diamond, 14K white gold (checked 2026-10-02)

Best around 2 carats
Rare Carat Jules Classic Lab Engagement Ring (1/2ct. tw.) With 2.02 Carat Cushion Lab Diamond
by Rare Carat
Complete ring: center stone included
Best for: A buyer who wants a 2 carat lab diamond with some sparkle on the band, for less than our 1.5 carat pick.
Rare Carat says the pavé lab diamonds "line the front half of the band", which leaves the back of the shank plain.

What we like
- A 2 carat center in a finished ring for less than the 1.5 carat Kennedy, because the setting costs less
- The listing says the half carat of side stones is lab-grown, which two of the other listings do not
- A matching Jules lab diamond band is offered at $660
Keep in mind
- The diamond's IGI report allows for post-growth treatment while Rare Carat's checklist on the diamond page shows none
- The center is a near-square cushion, 8.03 by 7.86 mm, not an elongated one
- Width and size range were not shown in the listing data we read
- Price range
- $2,060 complete: $955 for the setting and $1,105 for the 2.02 ct lab diamond, 14K white gold (checked 2026-10-02)

by Rare Carat
Complete ring: center stone included
Best for: A buyer who wants a 3 carat lab center with side stones and a finished ring under 3,000 dollars.
Two trillion lab diamonds sit either side of the radiant, and at this size the diamond is about three fifths of the ring's price.

Photo shows the setting with a round center. The price here is for a 3.02 ct radiant diamond.
What we like
- A 3 carat center and half a carat of trillion side stones in a complete ring
- The side stones are named as lab diamonds in the listing title
- A matching Maura lab band is offered at $790
Keep in mind
- Only three reviews were shown on the page
- The product photo shows the setting with a round center, not the radiant priced here
- A large stone sits high on the hand; the listing gives no setting height
- Price range
- $2,990 complete: $1,165 for the setting and $1,825 for the 3.02 ct lab diamond, 14K white gold (checked 2026-10-02)

How We Chose
- One ring per carat size. The page answers what a finished lab ring costs at about 1, 1.5, 2 and 3 carats, so each pick sits at one of those sizes, with a three-stone option at the smallest.
- Shapes our other pages do not cover. Round, oval, emerald, pear, princess and marquise centers and halo settings have their own RingReel pages, so the picks here use radiant, cushion and asscher centers.
- The same grades throughout. Every center stone is H color and VS1 clarity, the grades Rare Carat pairs with its settings by default, so the price differences come from size, shape and setting.
- Every listing and every report opened on 2 October 2026. We read the price split on each complete-ring page, the diamond page behind it, and the IGI report it links to.
- One jeweler, and we say so. Every ring here is a Rare Carat configuration. For a comparison of stores, see our guide to the best places to buy lab-grown diamonds.
What a Lab Grown Diamond Engagement Ring Costs by Carat
The usual price charts list loose stones. A ring adds a setting, and at small sizes the setting is the bigger number. This is how the five rings split on 2 October 2026:
| Carat and shape | Ring | Diamond | Setting | Diamond share of the ring |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1.02 radiant, Bianca | 1,325 dollars | 435 dollars | 890 dollars | About a third |
| 1.05 cushion, Kamryn three-stone | 1,805 dollars | 475 dollars | 1,330 dollars | About a quarter |
| 1.52 asscher, Kennedy | 2,270 dollars | 890 dollars | 1,380 dollars | About two fifths |
| 2.02 cushion, Jules | 2,060 dollars | 1,105 dollars | 955 dollars | Just over half |
| 3.02 radiant, Maura three-stone | 2,990 dollars | 1,825 dollars | 1,165 dollars | About three fifths |
Our guide to lab-grown diamond prices by carat follows the loose stones across several stores. Here the question is the finished ring.
About 1 Carat
At this size the setting decides the price. The 1.02 carat radiant on the Bianca and the 1.05 carat cushion on the Kamryn cost within 40 dollars of each other as stones, yet the finished rings were 480 dollars apart, 440 of them in the setting. If you are working to a budget at 1 carat, the band is where the money is.
About 1.5 Carats
The 1.52 carat asscher cost 890 dollars as a stone and the Kennedy setting 1,380, for 2,270 dollars in all. That is more than our 2 carat ring, because the Kennedy is the most expensive setting of the five. A 1.5 carat lab ring can cost more than a 2 carat one when the setting is the larger part of the bill.
About 2 Carats
The 2.02 carat cushion on the Jules came to 2,060 dollars. Rapaport News, reporting The Knot’s 2026 Real Weddings Study, gives the average lab-grown engagement ring bought by couples married in 2025 as 4,300 dollars at an average of 2 carats. A 2 carat lab ring at that spend leaves room for a costlier setting, a higher color grade or platinum.
About 3 Carats
The 3.02 carat radiant cost 1,825 dollars, and with the Maura three-stone setting the ring was 2,990 dollars. The stone was now three fifths of the price. Larger stones keep the pattern going: on the Bianca, a 4.01 carat radiant made a 2,940 dollar ring, and a 5.01 carat radiant a 3,660 dollar ring.
What the Listing Tells You, and What Only the Report Says

A Rare Carat complete-ring page gives the carat, color, clarity and cut grade, and the word “lab” beside “diamond”. The diamond page behind it adds measurements, the length-to-width ratio, the grading lab and the wholesaler that supplies the stone. The rest is on the grading report.
The Grading Report
All five stones carry reports from IGI, the International Gemological Institute. GIA also grades lab-grown diamonds, but since 1 October 2025 it no longer uses letter grades for them: GIA says they “will be described as ‘Premium’ or ‘Standard’ based on an overall assessment of their clarity, color and cut.” An IGI report that grades H color and VS1 clarity and a GIA lab-grown report that says Premium or Standard are therefore not written in the same terms. Our guide to IGI vs GIA compares the two labs.
CVD or HPHT
Lab diamonds are grown in one of two ways: chemical vapor deposition (CVD), which builds the crystal from carbon gas, or high pressure and high temperature (HPHT). None of the five listings said which. All five IGI reports did, in the same words: “This Laboratory Grown Diamond was created by Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) growth process.” If the method matters to you, the report is the place to look. Our guide to lab-grown vs natural diamonds explains both methods.
Post-Growth Treatment
GIA wrote in 2024 that CVD stones “now dominate the supply” of lab diamonds submitted for grading, “with the majority of these also undergoing post-growth HPHT treatment to remove their color.” Of our five reports, one, for the 2.02 carat cushion on the Jules, carries the general note that the stone “may include post-growth treatment”; the other four carry no treatment line. If treatment matters to you, read the comments on the report and ask the seller before buying.
The Word “Lab”
Since 2018 the FTC’s definition of a diamond has no longer required it to be natural: the Commission said lab-created stones with essentially the same properties “are also diamonds.” What the Guides police is the wording. A seller using “cultured” must qualify it with a clear disclosure such as “laboratory-grown” that the product “is not a mined stone.” All five center stones were labeled “lab diamond” on the page. The gap is the small stones: the Kamryn and Kennedy listings call their side stones diamonds without saying lab or mined.
Radiant, Cushion and Asscher Centers, and Three-Stone Rings
Our guide to engagement ring shapes covers every cut. These are the ones this page uses, and what the listings showed about them.
Radiant
A radiant is a rectangle or square with cut corners and brilliant facets. IGI calls the shape “Cut Cornered Rectangular Modified Brilliant.” The 1.02 carat radiant measured 6.88 by 5.02 mm, a length-to-width ratio of 1.37; the 3.02 carat stone was 1.28, a little squarer.
Cushion and Elongated Cushion
A cushion has rounded corners and softly curved sides. The 1.05 carat cushion on the Kamryn has a ratio of 1.25, long enough to read as an elongated cushion on the hand. The 2.02 carat cushion on the Jules is close to square at 8.03 by 7.86 mm, and its report names it a “Square Cushion Brilliant.”
Asscher
An asscher is a square step cut with cropped corners. On the report, IGI names the 1.52 carat stone a “Square Emerald Cut”. Rare Carat lists it as asscher. They are the same stone under two names.
Three-Stone

A three-stone ring sets a smaller stone either side of the center. On the Maura the side stones are trillions, which are triangular; on the Kamryn the listing photo shows round ones. Side stones add to the setting price, which is why the Kamryn setting cost 440 dollars more than the Bianca. For other settings, see our guide to engagement ring settings.
Returns, Resizing and the Band
Rare Carat’s diamond pages say that all of its sellers “offer free returns within 30 days of shipment” and that you can “resize your ring once at no charge within your first year.” A resize ends the return, so settle the size first with our printable ring sizer. All five listings offer a matching band, from 525 dollars for the Bianca band to 990 dollars for the Kennedy band. Our Rare Carat review covers the store’s terms in full.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are Lab Grown Diamonds Acceptable for Engagement Rings?
Yes. They are diamonds under the FTC’s definition, and GIA says they have “essentially the same chemical composition and crystal structure” as mined ones. The Knot’s 2026 Real Weddings Study found lab-grown center stones in 61% of engagement rings bought by couples married in 2025, so they are now the more common choice.
Can I Find Lab-Grown Engagement Rings Under $1000?
Not among the 1 carat rings we priced. The cheapest was 1,325 dollars, 890 of it for the setting, and the plain Linda solitaire with a 1.19 carat radiant was listed at 1,140 on Rare Carat’s radiant page. A smaller stone is the way under a thousand, and our page on engagement rings under $1,000 prices such rings.
What Size Lab-Grown Diamond Can You Get for $5000?
On 2 October 2026, a lot more than 3 carats. Rare Carat priced a 5.01 carat radiant, H color and VS1 clarity, at 2,770 dollars as a stone, and as a finished solitaire in 14K white gold at 3,660 dollars. That leaves well over a thousand dollars of a 5,000 budget for a better setting or metal.
How Much Should I Pay for a 3 Carat Lab Grown Diamond?
The 3.02 carat radiant on this page, H color and VS1 clarity with an IGI report, cost 1,825 dollars as a stone and 2,990 dollars set in a three-stone ring. Other grades, shapes and grading labs are priced differently, so compare the same grades from the same lab before deciding a price is fair.
Does the Listing Say Whether a Lab Diamond Is CVD or HPHT?
Not on the five Rare Carat listings we read. The growth method was on the IGI report each diamond page links to, under comments, and all five said CVD. Open the report before you pay, and check that its number matches the stone in your cart, because the link chooses a stone to fit a description.
