Engagement Ring Quiz: Find the Ring That Fits Her Style and Your Budget
Pick a budget, a stone, a shape, a metal and a style, and the quiz matches them against 41 complete engagement rings we have already priced on 15 of our pages, each from the seller's own listing. The price shown is the one the seller published on the day we read it, with that date beside it. When nothing we have priced fits all five answers, the quiz says so and shows the closest rings, with what each one misses written next to it.

Lab-grown, natural or something else?
Since 2018 the Federal Trade Commission has not required a diamond to be natural: a laboratory-grown stone with essentially the same properties is a diamond, and has to be labeled as laboratory-grown. What you pay for is the origin. On one Angara design read on 14 September 2026, the natural 1/6 ct version was $863 and the lab-grown version $728, both in 18K yellow gold. Moissanite is a different stone, silicon carbide, which GIA puts at 9.25 on the Mohs hardness scale against 10 for diamond; sapphire is 9.

Metal allergy
The American Academy of Dermatology advises people with a nickel allergy to wear 18, 22 or 24 karat yellow gold, or platinum. With this answer the quiz only matches rings whose listing offers platinum or 18K yellow gold. It cannot tell you what a given alloy contains, which is a question for the seller.
For hands that work
Rings from our low profile and nurses pages are listed first. GIA describes a bezel, a rim of metal around the whole stone, as offering excellent protection and suiting active lifestyles.

Settle the size first
Several sellers here, Rare Carat among them, will not take a ring back once it has been resized, so the size is worth settling before you order. Each ring above shows its seller's resizing terms.
Tungsten, titanium and ceramic are hard to resize
Brilliant Earth, a seller, writes that tungsten, ceramic and titanium rings may not be able to be fully resized, so the size you order is close to the size you keep. A study of tungsten carbide ring removal describes the material as impervious to traditional ring cutters and removes it by controlled crushing.

Sitting with the engagement ring
Bands from our page for that engagement ring go first, because each was picked to sit beside it. A band from another page may still fit; the page explains what to check.
Around live current
OSHA bars conductive jewelry, rings included, that might contact exposed energized parts unless it is insulated. Metal rings conduct: tungsten carbide at about a tenth of copper, titanium at about 3 to 4 percent. For this answer the quiz only matches rings our pages list as non-conductive, and it cannot tell you what your employer allows.

Why breakaway matters
Cleveland Clinic says a silicone ring should break before a finger can be pulled with enough force to injure it, and that anyone who wears a ring and works with their hands around machinery or equipment has a higher risk of a ring avulsion. The quiz counts a ring as breakaway only when its maker publishes a break force or a breakaway claim.

How the Quiz Ranks the Rings
Your answers come first. A ring counts as a match only if it meets all five: its listed price is within your budget, and its stone, shape, metal and style are the ones the seller's listing names. Among the matches, the ring priced closest to your budget without going over it is listed first, and if she works with her hands, rings from our low profile and nurses pages go ahead of the rest.
Only when two rings are still level after all of that does the quiz put the one from a seller that pays us a commission first, which today means Rare Carat. That rule never moves a ring above one that fits your answers better, and most rings never reach it, because two rings rarely share a price. Ouraffiliate disclosure lists how we are paid.
Why Some Rings Are Left Out
The quiz only uses complete rings, where the published price includes the center stone. A setting sold without a stone has no total price to check against a budget, so settings stay on the pages that review them. A ring also drops out of a match when its listing does not state what you asked about: if the seller names 14K gold without a color, the quiz will not guess the color for you, and says which rings it left out for that reason.
What the Quiz Does Not Know
Prices change, and a listing we read in September 2026 may not show the same figure today; the seller's page is the one that counts. The quiz does not know her taste, and it does not know her ring size. If the size is not settled, measure it with our printable ring sizer before ordering, because several of these sellers will not take a ring back once it has been resized.
