Moissanite engagement rings are sold by the look of the stone, and the two facts that decide what you are buying sit further down the page: the grade the seller assigns the moissanite, and what the seller will do if the ring comes back. Of the five rings below, all opened on their own sellers’ sites on 20 September 2026, three can be returned within 30 days, one can be returned only within 3 days and only with a restocking fee, and one carries a Final sale badge on the same page that advertises a 30 day exchange. Our overall pick is the Charles & Colvard Round Solitaire, which prints the stone’s color grade, clarity grade, cut and 6.50mm diameter above the buy button.

Key Takeaways
- Moissanite is silicon carbide, and GIA classes it as a diamond simulant with a Mohs hardness of 9.25, second to diamond’s 10. That figure is for the material, not for the ring’s gold.
- Under the FTC Jewelry Guides, a lab-grown or simulated stone may not carry a mined stone’s name without a disclosure such as laboratory-created immediately before it, and section 23.27 rules out calling anything artificially produced real, genuine or natural.
- Every carat figure on a moissanite listing is a DEW, a diamond equivalent weight, because moissanite is lighter than diamond. It describes the size, not the weight.
- The color letters on these listings are the seller’s own grading against the diamond scale, not an independent laboratory report.
- The return terms differ widely, from 30 days at three sellers to no return at all on an East West Gem Co made to order ring.
Moissanite Engagement Rings Compared
Read the stone column before the price column. It holds the size in millimeters, the DEW carat figure and the seller’s color grade, which is the part of a listing a photograph cannot stand in for. Prices are as each page opened on 20 September 2026, in US dollars.

The Best Moissanite Engagement Rings, Reviewed
Best overall
Charles & Colvard Round Solitaire Engagement Ring
by Charles & Colvard
Best for: A buyer who wants the stone's color, clarity and millimeter size printed on the listing by the company that put moissanite on jewelry counters.
The page opened at 799.20 dollars on 20 September 2026 against a list price of 999 dollars, under a banner reading SITEWIDE 20% OFF - LABOR DAY SALE, and it prints the stone's color, clarity, cut and 6.50mm diameter above the Add To Cart button.
Illustration of the setting type, not a photo of this ring.
What we like
- The product details block names the color grade DEF, the clarity grade VS1, the Excellent cut, the 6.50mm stone diameter, the 1.80mm band and the 5.80mm setting height
- Carat, shape, color grade and metal are all selectable on one page, so the price moves with a choice the buyer can see
- The returns page gives 30 days from the shipping date, with the conditions written out
Keep in mind
- The 799.20 dollar figure is a sitewide sale price, not the list price, so it will move when the sale ends
- Return shipping is the buyer's cost, and a moissanite item sent back without its warranty card is charged 50 dollars
- Free resizing is not promised anywhere we read on the product page
- Price range
- 799.20 dollars on sale, 999 dollars list, as the page opened on 20 September 2026
- Material
- 14K white gold solitaire, average band width 1.80mm, setting height 5.80mm
- Sizes
- 4.0 to 9.0 in half sizes, per the size selector

Best under 1,000 dollars
Kobelli 1.45 Carat Moissanite Eileen Ring
by Kobelli
Best for: A buyer who wants gold, real diamond accents and a moissanite center for under a thousand dollars.
The listing opened at 990 dollars on 20 September 2026 and is the only pick here that pairs a moissanite center with lab-grown diamonds and still stays under a thousand dollars.
Illustration of the setting type, not a photo of this ring.
What we like
- The listing states the center stone as a 7x5mm emerald lab-created moissanite of 1.05 carat DEW, and the accents as 50 lab-grown diamonds of 2/5 carat total weight
- Kobelli writes that every product photograph is taken in house with real stock set to the described carat weight
- Returns are free for 30 days from the ship date within the United States
Keep in mind
- The 30 day window runs from the ship date, not from delivery, so the usable time is shorter than it reads
- Custom made orders are not refundable, and engraved or personalized pieces carry a 10 percent restocking fee
- No resizing terms appear on the product page
- Price range
- 990 dollars as the page opened on 20 September 2026
- Material
- 14K solid gold halo with 50 lab-grown diamonds, 2/5 carat total diamond weight

Best for choosing the stone
MoissaniteCo Petite Moissanite Solitaire Ring, 1.5mm
by MoissaniteCo
Best for: A buyer who wants to see the price move stone by stone before committing to a size or a brand.
The offer on the page listed 725 dollars on 20 September 2026 with a Forever One round center, and the same setting listed 1,095 dollars with the house brand round stone at 2.0 carat DEW.
Illustration of the setting type, not a photo of this ring.
What we like
- One setting is priced against every center stone option, so the cost of a bigger or a better graded stone is visible before checkout
- Both Charles & Colvard's Forever One and the seller's cheaper house brand are offered in the same setting
- The return policy is written out step by step, including the RMA requirement and the security tag condition
Keep in mind
- The page shows no final price until a stone is chosen, so the opening figure is a floor and not a total
- Removing or reattaching the security tag voids the return
- Rings resized before the return void it as well, and the widest and narrowest sizes are special orders
- Price range
- From 725 dollars, rising with the stone chosen, as the page opened on 20 September 2026
- Material
- Petite 1.5mm solitaire setting, priced with the center stone chosen
- Sizes
- Standard range on the page; above 8.5 and below 4.0 are special orders
- Guarantee
- MoissaniteCo publishes a separate jewelry warranty page; returns require the security tag intact
Best ready to ship
Valerie Madison Vera Round Moissanite Engagement Ring
by Valerie Madison
Best for: A buyer who wants a named designer's finished ring in hand quickly rather than an eight week build.
The listing opened at 2,000 dollars on 20 September 2026 against a regular price of 2,500 dollars, and Valerie Madison's returns policy makes items bought on sale or with a discount code final sale.
Illustration of the setting type, not a photo of this ring.
What we like
- The details tab states the stone plainly: a 7.5mm colorless DEF moissanite, with the diamond size it is meant to read as
- The ring is ready to ship rather than made to order, with 24 to 72 hours of processing stated on the page
- Valerie Madison writes that it prioritizes recycled gold wherever possible
Keep in mind
- The page carries a Final sale badge saying the item cannot be returned or exchanged, and the same page's details tab advertises a 30 day exchange window; ask which one applies before paying
- The discounted price is itself what makes it final sale under the seller's own policy
- It is the second most expensive pick here and the stone is fixed, with no smaller option on the page
- Price range
- 2,000 dollars, reduced from 2,500 dollars, as the page opened on 20 September 2026
- Material
- Solid 14K gold four prong basket solitaire on a sleek band designed to stack flush
- Sizes
- Ready to ship at size 7, resizable between 5 and 9
- Guarantee
- Any warranty or return right is voided if the piece is modified, repaired or resized by another jeweler
Best made to order
East West Gem Co The Harper Ring, Standard
by East West Gem Co
Best for: A buyer choosing shape and metal from a wide list and willing to wait eight weeks for the ring to be built.
The oval in 14K yellow gold opened at 2,475 dollars on 20 September 2026, and the shape and metal variants on the same product ran from 1,825 to 3,550 dollars.
Illustration of the setting type, not a photo of this ring.
What we like
- Eight stone shapes and eleven metal choices are priced on the one page, with the oval's exact dimensions and length to width ratio stated
- The warranty is written in two phases: one year unlimited, then at cost for life, with at cost defined as no added profit on the repair
- The page tells buyers when its own design will not work, recommending extra structure above 3.5 carats and warning that a donut setting stops a straight band sitting flush
Keep in mind
- Made to order rings cannot be returned or exchanged at all, which covers everything outside the Ready To Ship section
- Even a Ready To Ship sample must be flagged within 3 days of delivery and carries a 20 percent restocking fee
- Eight weeks of build time, and the warranty is void if another jeweler touches the ring
- Price range
- 2,475 dollars for the oval in 14K yellow gold, with variants from 1,825 to 3,550 dollars, as the page opened on 20 September 2026
- Material
- 1.5mm solitaire band with single claw prongs and no pave accents
- Widths
- 1.5mm band
- Sizes
- Made to order to the size requested
- Guarantee
- One year of unlimited complimentary repairs excluding purposeful or excessive damage, then repairs at cost for life; work by an outside jeweler voids it, and it does not transfer to a second owner
How We Chose
- Every listing opened on the seller’s own site on 20 September 2026, in US dollars, with sale price and list price both recorded where a page showed two.
- Five sellers and five kinds of purchase: a branded stone, a halo under a thousand dollars, a setting priced stone by stone, a ready to ship designer ring and a made to order build.
- Every stone fact copied from the listing, the millimeter size, the DEW carat figure and the grades, with anything a page did not state written as not stated.
- Return, resizing and warranty terms taken from each seller’s policy page, not from the marketing line on the product page.
- No star ratings, no review counts and nothing about how a ring feels worn, because we did not buy or wear these rings.
What Moissanite Is, in One Paragraph
Moissanite is silicon carbide. GIA lists it among the common diamond simulants, stones that look like a diamond but are unrelated to one at the atomic level, and gives it a hardness of 9.25 on the Mohs scale against diamond’s 10. GIA also writes that moissanite is doubly refractive, so a viewer looking through the crown sees the back facets doubled, and that in sizes of one carat and above its intense fire may give it away as a non-diamond gem. That is the trade-off: more colored sparkle for far less money, in a stone a jeweler can identify. The full comparison is in moissanite vs diamond, and where the stone comes from and how it is graded is in what is moissanite.

What the Word on the Listing Has to Do
The FTC’s Jewelry Guides do not let a seller borrow a mined stone’s name for a lab-grown or simulated one. Section 23.25(b) requires a word such as laboratory-grown, laboratory-created or imitation immediately before the gem name, with equal conspicuousness, and Note 1 adds that faux is not adequate disclosure. Section 23.27 is blunter: it is unfair or deceptive to describe any artificially produced product as real, genuine, natural or precious. Moissanite is its own gemstone name rather than a borrowed one, so a listing that says moissanite is doing its job. What the guides rule out is calling the same stone a real or genuine diamond, because section 23.12 reserves the unqualified word diamond for a mineral of essentially pure carbon, hardness 10, refractive index 2.42.
What Moissanite Costs Against a Diamond
GIA writes that moissanite costs much less than a comparable diamond, which lets a buyer choose a larger stone or a more elaborate design for the same money. The comparison worth making in 2026 is against a lab-grown diamond rather than a mined one, because that gap is much narrower, and our guide to lab-grown and natural diamonds sets out why. If the budget decides rather than the stone, our lists of budget engagement rings and engagement rings under 1,000 dollars compare complete rings at each price.
Moissanite Rings for Men
Two of the sellers here list men’s moissanite rings in their own navigation: Charles & Colvard groups men’s rings by gem type with moissanite among them, and MoissaniteCo lists a men’s band category under its wedding bands. We did not price either, so nothing here is a men’s pick. A men’s band is a different decision, because the stone is small and the metal does the work, and our comparison of wedding band metals is the place to start.
Setting It in Gold, White Gold or Platinum
Four of these five listings offer the same design in more than one metal, and Charles & Colvard and East West Gem Co both price platinum beside the gold options. Colorless moissanite set in yellow gold picks up warmth from the metal around it, which is taste rather than grade. Between the two white metals, platinum or white gold compares wear, upkeep and price. If none of these settings is the one, a custom-designed moissanite ring is a different process with its own lead time, and our engagement ring stores comparison covers return language store by store.
Returns and Resizing, Seller by Seller
Every seller here publishes a window, and they differ more than the prices do. What ends the right to return matters as much as how long it lasts, because on three of these five pages a resize, a missing tag or a discount code closes it.
| Seller | Window, in its own terms | What ends the right to return | Resizing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Charles & Colvard | 30 days from the item being shipped | Products intentionally altered or damaged, final sale personalized, engraved or custom pieces; return shipping is the buyer’s cost, and moissanite sent back without its warranty card carries a 50 dollar fee | Not stated on the product page; a repair or resize request runs through the warranty page |
| Kobelli | Free 30 days from the order ship date, US only | Damaged or worn items; custom made orders are not refundable, and engraved, monogram or international orders carry restocking fees | Not stated on the product page |
| MoissaniteCo | 30 days from shipment, RMA number required | A missing or reattached security tag, any visible wear, and any ring that has been resized; sizes above 8.5 or below 4.0 are special orders | Sizes outside the standard range are returnable only for sizing or warranty repair |
| Valerie Madison | The listing is badged Final sale, while the details tab on the same page advertises 30 days | Sale or discount code purchases, custom, international, personalized and rushed or resized items, and work by another jeweler | Complimentary within 60 days, some exclusions; ships size 7, resizable between 5 and 9 |
| East West Gem Co | 3 days from delivery, and only on Ready To Ship samples | Everything made to order, which is every item bought outside the Ready To Ship section; a 20 percent restocking fee applies to the rest | Complimentary within the available range, per the product page |
Is a Moissanite Engagement Ring Right for You?
Work down the left column until a row matches. Each traces to a listing read on 20 September 2026, to a seller’s policy, or to GIA.
| Your situation | What usually works | Why |
|---|---|---|
| You want the largest stone your budget allows | Moissanite, in a plain solitaire | GIA says it costs much less than a comparable diamond, so the money goes into size |
| You want white, quiet sparkle at two carats or more | Look at the stone in person first | GIA: at one carat and above the intense fire may give it away as a non-diamond gem |
| Your budget stops at a thousand dollars | Kobelli’s Eileen or the Charles & Colvard solitaire | Both opened under that line on 20 September 2026 |
| You want an independent laboratory report on the stone | A diamond instead | The grades on these moissanite listings are assigned by the seller |
| You are not certain of the ring size | A seller with a stated resizing range, not a made to order build | East West Gem Co made to order rings cannot be returned; Valerie Madison’s ships at size 7 and resizes between 5 and 9 |
| You want to be able to change your mind | Charles & Colvard, Kobelli or MoissaniteCo | All three publish a 30 day window; the East West Gem Co window is 3 days on Ready To Ship pieces only |
| You are buying a discounted ring | Ask for the return terms in writing first | Valerie Madison’s policy makes anything bought on sale or with a discount code final sale |
Frequently Asked Questions
Is a Moissanite Engagement Ring Worth It?
It is worth it if you want size and hardness for the money and do not need the stone to be a diamond. GIA rates moissanite 9.25 on the Mohs scale and says it costs far less than a comparable diamond. What you give up is an independent grading report and any expectation of resale value.
Can I Find a Moissanite Engagement Ring Under 1,000 Dollars?
Yes. Two of the five listings we opened on 20 September 2026 were below that line: Kobelli’s Eileen ring at 990 dollars in 14K gold with lab-grown diamond accents, and the Charles & Colvard round solitaire at 799.20 dollars during a sitewide sale, against a 999 dollar list price.
What Is the Downside of Moissanite?
The colored fire that sells the stone is also what identifies it. GIA writes that at one carat and above the intense fire may give moissanite away as a non-diamond gem, and that some stones look slightly yellow or gray at certain angles. The grades come from the seller, and nobody publishes a resale value.
How Much Is a 2ct Moissanite Ring?
On 20 September 2026 the MoissaniteCo Petite Solitaire listed 1,095 dollars complete with a 2.0 carat DEW round house-brand stone in the starting metal. That is one seller’s configuration on one day. The East West Gem Co Harper starts higher because the ring is built to order rather than assembled from stock parts.
Is Moissanite a Fake Diamond?
No, and it is not a diamond either. It is silicon carbide, a gemstone in its own right, which GIA classes as a simulant because it resembles diamond without sharing its composition. The word to watch on a listing is not moissanite but diamond: FTC section 23.12 reserves that one for pure carbon.
Does Moissanite Get Cloudy Over Time?
We found no authoritative source that addresses moissanite turning cloudy, and we will not invent one. The nearest thing is a seller’s claim, from MoissaniteCo, that the color cannot change with time and that dirt is the only thing that alters how the stone looks. Treat that as the seller’s position, not as an independent finding.
