The best wood wedding bands are mostly not made of wood alone: four of our five picks are a metal band with a wood inlay, and the fifth is a ring built from layers of thin wood strips. Our top pick is the Alamea titanium band with a koa inlay at Larson Jewelers, at $109.99 to $129.99 on 31 October 2026, with 45 days to send it back. The wood is the look. What separates these rings is what the seller charges when the size is wrong, and that ranges from nothing to 200 dollars.

Three of the five come from one workshop and two from one store, and the terms split the same way. Larson gives 45 days for a refund, and Rustic and Main gives 30 days with a restocking fee, because each of its bands is made to order. The fee is what most comparisons of wood rings leave out, and it is the reason to order a sizer first.

How We Chose

What a Wood Wedding Band Is Made Of

Most wood wedding bands are a metal ring with wood set into a channel. The metal gives the ring its strength and its size, and the wood is the visible part. Four of our five picks are built that way, which is why the useful questions are about the metal and the seller, not only the wood. The fifth has no metal, and its questions are different.

Wood Inlay in Titanium

Titanium is the metal most wood bands are built around, and our titanium wedding bands page covers the metal on its own, including grades and the sizing trade-offs. Rustic and Main calls its titanium lightweight, durable and hypoallergenic, and Larson says titanium is strong yet lightweight and contains no nickel. Neither names a titanium grade on the listings we read for these picks, so ask if the grade matters to you.

Koa, Walnut and Whiskey Barrel Wood

The woods in these bands are chosen for a story as much as for a grain. Larson says koa has a reddish hue and is commonly used on instruments such as ukuleles and guitars. Rustic and Main’s Garand uses dark walnut from a WWII-era M1 Garand rifle stock, and its Campfire uses natural whiskey barrel wood, which the seller says keeps the oak color. A weathered version of the barrel wood comes in a deep black or gray hue. We found no seller that publishes a hardness figure or a lab test for its inlay, so the maker’s finish and warranty are the evidence you have.

Solid Wood Rings

A ring with no metal in it does exist. Rustic and Main says it wraps several layers of thin wood strips to make its wooden rings, that in most cases they can be squeezed as hard as possible in the hand and will not break, and that they will typically flex before they snap. It also says a wooden ring will show signs of wear over time, just as a metal ring does, and recommends keeping it away from harsh elements such as concrete. That makes this the ring to pick for the look and the weight, not for a job site. If your hands work hard for a living, our silicone wedding bands page covers a work-day ring you can wear in its place.

Choosing Your Own Wood

The customizer behind the Solid Custom Wood Ring lists woods such as whiskey barrel, battleship teak, rifle stock walnut, maple, purpleheart and bogwood. Rustic and Main also says it can often use a customer’s own wood if the piece is dry and at least 8 by 1 by 1 inches, for a 150-dollar fee. A ring made from materials you supply is final sale, and a free exchange does not apply to it. For more ways to design a band from scratch, see our custom wedding rings page.

Sizing a Wood Band

Size carefully, because an inlay changes what a jeweler can do. Rustic and Main says metal rings can typically go up about a quarter of a size and cannot be sized down, and that a ring that is too big needs an exchange. Its exchange is free within 30 days only if you used one of its ring sizers. After 30 days, or without its sizer, the fee runs from $150 to $600 on its FAQ, and it accepts no exchanges after 90 days.

Larson works differently. Its refund policy gives 45 days from purchase for a full refund, and Thorsten’s warranty publishes a 20-dollar processing fee for size exchanges after that. Alamea’s warranty exchange carries a 20% restocking fee on non-14K items, subject to inspection. Both are comfort fit questions too: Larson suggests that a comfort fit ring may run half a size smaller than a standard fit reading from a local jeweler, as a general recommendation rather than a rule, and says its own 4mm sizer is accurate for comfort fit rings. Larson offers a free sizing kit by mail, and for how width changes the fit, see our guide to men’s wedding band width.

Caring for the Wood

The inlay is the part that needs thought. Larson says the resin over its koa inlays can be scratched. Rustic and Main says the coating on a new ring makes for a shiny finish, that a wooden ring will show wear over time, and that in most cases scratches or dings stay at the surface and do not reach the wood underneath. If so, you can send the ring back to be refinished for a fee.

On a metal band, Rustic and Main says any local jeweler can polish the ring unless the inlay itself is scratched or damaged. If the inlay is damaged, its advice is to contact the maker, which may be able to repair the ring or offer a new one at a discount. Thorsten’s warranty says inlay damage may be eligible for repair or replacement, with a processing fee starting at 20 dollars.

Wood Bands Next to Other Alternative Metals

A wood inlay is a trim on a metal, so the metal underneath decides most of the buying questions. If you want a plain band with no inlay, our guides to tungsten wedding bands and ceramic wedding bands cover those materials. For more men’s bands at every price, see cheap men’s wedding bands.

Wearing One With a Partner’s Band

A wood band pairs with a plain metal one without clashing. Larson sells the Alamea band in 6mm and 8mm and the KALANI in four widths, for couples who want a matching set in two sizes, and our his and hers wedding bands page covers other ways to match two rings that are not identical.

What Wood Wedding Bands Cost

Wood wedding bands run from $110 to well over $700, and the gap is mostly the maker. On 31 October 2026 the Alamea koa band was $109.99 to $129.99 and the KALANI was 229.99 dollars, both before a discount code on Larson’s site. Rustic and Main’s Solid Custom Wood Ring started at 475 dollars, its Garand at 705 dollars and its Campfire at 765 dollars. Width does not change the price on those two titanium bands: the higher figures on the page are a 125-dollar priority order and a 35-dollar custom coffee option.

Under $250: Koa From Larson

The two Larson bands are the only picks under $250. The trade-off is a resin coat that can scratch, and no statement of where the ring is made.

475 dollars and Up: Handcrafted in the USA

Rustic and Main’s bands cost several times as much and are made to order in North Carolina, in quarter sizes. If a band you will wear daily for decades is the goal, that may be worth it. If you are unsure of the size, a cheaper ring with a 45-day refund window is the lower-risk way to find out.

What a Wrong Size Costs

On the Rustic and Main bands, a return in the first 30 days costs 150 dollars, which is more than the whole Alamea band. That is not a reason to rule the maker out, because the free sizer exists to prevent it. It is a reason to order the sizer, use it at different times of day, and only then confirm the size.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can You Get a Wedding Band Made Entirely of Wood?

Yes. Rustic and Main sells a Solid Custom Wood Ring built from several layers of thin wood strips, starting at 475 dollars on 31 October 2026. The other four picks here are metal bands with a wood inlay. The seller says wooden rings cannot be engraved and will show wear over time.

Are Wood Wedding Bands Durable?

An inlay sits in a metal channel under a coating, which is the reason makers build rings that way. Rustic and Main says its layered wood rings typically flex before they snap and in most cases survive a hard squeeze, and it refinishes surface scratches for a fee. No seller here publishes a wear test.

Can a Wood Wedding Band Be Resized?

Rarely, and only a little. Rustic and Main says metal rings can typically go up about a quarter of a size and cannot be sized down, so a ring that is too big needs an exchange. Larson’s tungsten and titanium bands go through a size exchange. Order a sizer before you buy.

How Much Do Wood Wedding Bands Cost?

On 31 October 2026 our five picks ran from $109.99 for a koa inlay in titanium to 765 dollars for a whiskey barrel inlay, before options. A solid custom wood ring started at 475 dollars. Handcrafted American-made bands sit at the top of that range. Check the current price on the seller’s page.

What Is the Best Wood for a Wedding Band?

No authority ranks woods for rings, and sellers choose them for look and story. Koa has a reddish hue, whiskey barrel wood keeps a natural oak color unless it is weathered, and rifle stock walnut is dark and carries its history. Pick the wood you like and the seller whose terms you trust.
