Wedding Ring Quiz: Find Your Engagement Ring, Wedding Band or Work Ring
This ring quiz covers the three rings people shop for around a wedding: the engagement ring, the wedding band and a ring to wear at work or the gym. Pick one, answer five questions, and it matches your answers against the rings we have already priced on our pages, 41 engagement rings and 111 bands, each from the seller's own listing and with the date we read it. When nothing fits, it says so and shows what comes closest.

Lab-grown, natural or something else?
Since 2018 the Federal Trade Commission has not required a diamond to be natural: a laboratory-grown stone with essentially the same properties is a diamond, and has to be labeled as laboratory-grown. What you pay for is the origin. On one Angara design read on 14 September 2026, the natural 1/6 ct version was $863 and the lab-grown version $728, both in 18K yellow gold. Moissanite is a different stone, silicon carbide, which GIA puts at 9.25 on the Mohs hardness scale against 10 for diamond; sapphire is 9.

Metal allergy
The American Academy of Dermatology advises people with a nickel allergy to wear 18, 22 or 24 karat yellow gold, or platinum. With this answer the quiz only matches rings whose listing offers platinum or 18K yellow gold. It cannot tell you what a given alloy contains, which is a question for the seller.
For hands that work
Rings from our low profile and nurses pages are listed first. GIA describes a bezel, a rim of metal around the whole stone, as offering excellent protection and suiting active lifestyles.

Settle the size first
Several sellers here, Rare Carat among them, will not take a ring back once it has been resized, so the size is worth settling before you order. Each ring above shows its seller's resizing terms.
Tungsten, titanium and ceramic are hard to resize
Brilliant Earth, a seller, writes that tungsten, ceramic and titanium rings may not be able to be fully resized, so the size you order is close to the size you keep. A study of tungsten carbide ring removal describes the material as impervious to traditional ring cutters and removes it by controlled crushing.

Sitting with the engagement ring
Bands from our page for that engagement ring go first, because each was picked to sit beside it. A band from another page may still fit; the page explains what to check.
Around live current
OSHA bars conductive jewelry, rings included, that might contact exposed energized parts unless it is insulated. Metal rings conduct: tungsten carbide at about a tenth of copper, titanium at about 3 to 4 percent. For this answer the quiz only matches rings our pages list as non-conductive, and it cannot tell you what your employer allows.

Why breakaway matters
Cleveland Clinic says a silicone ring should break before a finger can be pulled with enough force to injure it, and that anyone who wears a ring and works with their hands around machinery or equipment has a higher risk of a ring avulsion. The quiz counts a ring as breakaway only when its maker publishes a break force or a breakaway claim.

How the Ring Quiz Ranks the Rings
Your answers come first. A ring counts as a match only if it meets every required answer: the price its seller listed is within your budget, and the stone, metal, width or material you asked for is one the listing names. Among the matches, the ring priced closest to your budget without going over it comes first. Optional answers, like comfort fit or the look of a work ring, only change the order among rings that already match.
Only when two rings are still level after all of that does the quiz put the one from a seller that pays us a commission first, which today means Rare Carat. That rule never moves a ring above one that fits your answers better. Our affiliate disclosure lists how we are paid.
What Engagement Ring Should I Get?
Start with the budget and the center stone, because those two rule out the most rings. The engagement ring questions above are the same as on our engagement ring quiz: budget, stone, shape, metal and style, plus two optional questions about her hands and her ring size. Each match shows the seller's own return and resizing terms, because several sellers will not take a ring back once it has been resized.
What Wedding Band Should I Get?
Choose the metal first, then the width. Brilliant Earth, a seller, writes that gold offers resizing flexibility while tungsten, ceramic and titanium rings may not be able to be fully resized, so with those the size you order is close to the size you keep. Width changes how a band feels: a wider band covers more of the finger, and a comfort fit band is rounded on the inside. If the band has to sit beside an engagement ring, say so in the last question and bands from our page for that ring go first.
Prices in this part come from each band's listing, and where a seller prices a range of widths or metals the quiz uses the lowest listed price and says "and up". Men's and women's bands are matched only when the seller names them that way; a band sold without a label counts for either.
Work Rings for Men and Women
For a ring worn at work, the job decides more than the look. Cleveland Clinic says anyone who wears a ring and works with their hands around machinery or equipment has a higher risk of a ring avulsion, and that a silicone ring should break before the finger is injured. Around live current, OSHA bars conductive jewelry that might contact exposed energized parts unless it is insulated, and metal rings conduct: tungsten carbide at about a tenth of copper and titanium at about 3 to 4 percent. The work ring questions draw on 27 rings from our pages for trades, the gym and healthcare, and count a ring as breakaway or non-conductive only when its maker or our page says so.
What the Quiz Does Not Know
Prices change, and a listing we read in September 2026 may not show the same figure today; the seller's page is the one that counts. The quiz does not know the wearer's taste or ring size, and it cannot tell you what your employer allows at work. If the size is not settled, measure it with ourprintable ring sizer before ordering.
Frequently Asked Questions
Settle the answers that rule rings out before the ones that are taste: the budget, the stone or material, and anything about the wearer's hands or job. The quiz above asks those first, then shows only the rings that meet them, with the ones that come close marked with what they miss. Style is easier to choose from a short list than from a whole catalog.
It depends on the work. Cleveland Clinic says anyone who wears a ring and works with their hands around machinery or equipment has a higher risk of a ring avulsion, and that a silicone ring should break before the finger is injured. Around live current, OSHA bars conductive jewelry that might contact energized parts unless it is insulated, and metal rings conduct.
OSHA does not approve or endorse products, so no ring is OSHA approved. What its electrical rule, 29 CFR 1910.333, bars is conductive jewelry, rings included, that might contact exposed energized parts unless it is insulated. Whether a particular silicone ring is non-conductive is the maker's claim to check, and your employer's own policy still applies.
18K is 75 percent gold and 14K is 58.3 percent, and the extra gold shows in the price: Angara lists one solitaire design at $719 in 14K and $863 in 18K. GIA says both are alloyed for strength and suit everyday wear, and published hardness figures for 14K and 18K test alloys overlap. For a nickel allergy, the American Academy of Dermatology points to 18 karat yellow gold or higher, or platinum.
It is the idea that an engagement ring should cost three months' salary, and it comes from advertising, not from any financial rule. The Knot traces it to a De Beers campaign, and Brilliant Earth dates it to a 1930s De Beers campaign that first suggested one month's salary. Your budget is the one to use.
It is below the average, not below what a real ring costs. The Knot's 2026 Real Weddings Study puts average engagement ring spending at $4,600 for couples married in 2025. Our under $1,000 page lists complete rings with the stone already set at that budget, including an Angara solitaire with a natural diamond already set.
