The best rose gold engagement rings cost the same as the white and yellow versions of the same design, and on two of the settings below rose gold is the cheapest of the three. The five picks are settings without a center stone, priced from $910 to $1,450 in 14K rose gold on 6 November 2026: two from Rare Carat and three from Brilliant Earth. The color comes from copper in the alloy rather than from a coating, so it is part of the metal all the way through.
How we are paid. RingReel earns a commission from Rare Carat through the Awin network when you buy through a Rare Carat link on this page, at no cost to you. Brilliant Earth pays us nothing for its links: we have no active program with it, and we list it because it is on our approved list of jewelers. Nothing here was bought or handled: it is researched, not tested.

How We Chose
- Rose gold priced on the page. Every pick shows a price for 14K rose gold on its own listing, not a price for white gold with rose gold as an unpriced option.
- Five different looks. A plain solitaire, a six-prong solitaire, a vine design, a cluster and a halo, so the choice is about style rather than five versions of one ring.
- Jewelers from our approved list. Two picks are from Rare Carat and three from Brilliant Earth. Other stores sell rose gold rings; they are not ranked lower, they are simply not listed here.
- Nothing bought or handled. Every detail comes from the product pages as read on 6 November 2026.
- Setting prices only. All five jewelers’ prices here exclude the center stone, so the five numbers can be compared with each other but not with a complete ring.
What Makes Rose Gold Pink
Rose gold is real gold. The pink is not a coating; it is the mix of metals the gold is alloyed with, and copper does most of the work.
Copper and the Color
Total Materia, a materials database, says copper produces redder hues when added to gold, and it publishes the recipes side by side for 18 karat. Rose gold is 75% gold, 22.25% copper and 2.75% silver; red gold drops the silver and is a quarter copper. The more copper, the redder the metal, and the less silver there is to pale it. Total Materia calls copper the only other naturally colored pure metal besides gold, so every shade from pale yellow through rose to red is a question of how much copper and silver the maker adds. Our guide to rose gold vs yellow gold lays out the full composition table and answers whether the color fades.
Why 14K Rose Gold Can Look Pinker Than 18K
Total Materia also notes that lower karat alloys permit a broader spectrum of colors, because they carry a higher proportion of alloying metals. A 14K ring is 583 parts gold per thousand and an 18K ring 750, according to GIA’s 2015 guide, which leaves more room for copper at 14K. That is why many rose gold engagement rings are sold in 14K: the lower karat has more space for the metal that makes it pink.
Rose Gold and Sensitive Skin
GIA’s 2025 guide says yellow and rose gold that does not contain nickel are good choices for sensitive skin. None of the listings we read publishes the full alloy of its rose gold. If you react to jewelry, ask the jeweler in writing whether the alloy contains nickel before you order, and see our page on hypoallergenic engagement rings.
14K vs 18K Rose Gold for an Engagement Ring
The two karats look different, cost different amounts and, according to GIA, are both fine for a ring worn every day.
| 14K rose gold | 18K rose gold | |
|---|---|---|
| Gold content | 583 parts per thousand1 | 750 parts per thousand1 |
| Room for copper | More alloy, so a broader color range2 | Less alloy; Total Materia’s 18 karat rose recipe is just over a fifth copper |
| Everyday wear | Suitable3 | Suitable3 |
| Angie Gallery Solitaire price | 910 dollars | 1,190 dollars |
| Offered on our five picks | All five | The Angie only |

When 18K Is Worth It
The Angie costs less than $300 more in 18K rose gold than in 14K. What that buys is more gold in the alloy, and with it less room for copper, which, on Total Materia’s account of how alloy proportions set the color, gives 18K a narrower range of pinks than 14K. GIA’s 2025 guide does not rank one karat above the other for daily wear, so the extra is for purity and a softer pink, not durability. For the wider trade-off, see our guide to 14K vs 18K gold.
When 14K Makes More Sense
Four of the five picks are sold in 14K rose gold only on the pages we read, so 14K is also the karat that gives you the widest choice of designs. If you want a deeper pink, 14K is where the extra copper fits.
Does Rose Gold Cost More?
No, not on the listings we read. This is the part of the rose gold question that shoppers ask about least and that the listings answer most clearly.
Same Setting, Three Colors
These prices were read on Rare Carat’s pages on 6 November 2026, for the setting only, in 14K.
| Setting | 14K rose gold | 14K white gold | 14K yellow gold |
|---|---|---|---|
| Angie Gallery Solitaire | 910 dollars | 910 dollars | 910 dollars |
| Grus Diamond Engagement Ring | 1,380 dollars | 1,380 dollars | 1,380 dollars |
| Spectra Black Diamond Engagement Ring | 975 dollars | 985 dollars | 975 dollars |
| Islay Hand-Engraved Solitaire | 1,310 dollars | 1,310 dollars | 1,295 dollars |
On these four settings, rose gold never costs more than white gold, and the largest gap between any two colors is under $20. Brilliant Earth does not publish its other metal prices on the setting pages we read, so we cannot make the same comparison there; ask before you assume the same holds. The color is a style choice, not a price tier. The price moves with karat and with the platinum option, not with the hue.
Where the Money Goes Instead
The setting is usually the smaller part of an engagement ring’s cost; the center diamond is the larger. Our guide to the average engagement ring cost shows how that split works out, and our engagement rings under $1,000 page shows complete rings at that budget if you want the stone included.
Choosing a Stone and Setting for Rose Gold
Rose gold changes how the stone around it looks, and some combinations get more out of the metal than others.
White Diamonds Against Pink Metal
A white diamond set in rose gold stands out more than one set in white gold, because the metal around it is a different color. That contrast is strongest in a halo or pavé, where many small white stones sit in pink metal, which is why the Grus and the Garland are on this list. The Esme listing names a single metal, 14K rose gold, so on a solitaire like it the center sits in pink prongs; ask the jeweler if you would rather have white prongs on a rose band.
Moissanite and Lab-Grown Centers
All five settings take a center stone you choose. The Brilliant Earth settings are sold with a natural or lab-grown diamond from Brilliant Earth, and Rare Carat sells both. If you want a moissanite center in rose gold, our page on moissanite engagement rings compares what that costs.
Matching Bands
Rare Carat sells the Angie Curved Band for the Angie, under $550 on 6 November 2026. For the others, choose a band in the same karat and color as the ring, because two rose gold alloys from different makers may not match exactly, since Total Materia notes that the color depends on the proportion of alloying metals.
Which Rose Gold Engagement Ring Fits You?
| If you want | Pick | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The simplest rose gold solitaire | Rare Carat Angie Gallery Solitaire | 910 dollars in 14K, 1,190 dollars in 18K |
| Six prongs and a geometric profile | Brilliant Earth Esme | Compass setting, 1,090 dollars |
| A botanical design | Brilliant Earth Garland | Vine metalwork with marquise and round accents, 1,390 dollars |
| A small center that looks larger | Brilliant Earth Melody | Cluster of accent diamonds, 1,450 dollars |
| A halo in pink metal | Rare Carat Grus | Graduated halo of 16 diamonds, 1,380 dollars |
All prices in this table are for the setting only in 14K rose gold unless stated, read on 6 November 2026. If you are weighing rose gold against the other gold colors, our gold engagement rings page compares them, and men shopping for themselves can start with our engagement rings for men.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is 14K or 18K Rose Gold Better for an Engagement Ring?
Neither is better for daily wear: GIA’s 2025 guide rates both 14K and 18K suitable. 14K has more room for copper and so a wider range of pink, and it is the karat four of our five picks are sold in. 18K holds more gold and costs more, a step of less than $300 on the Angie setting we priced.
Are Rose Gold Engagement Rings Good for Men?
Yes, if he likes the color; nothing about the metal is specific to women. Rose gold is gold alloyed with copper, and GIA calls 14K and 18K gold suitable for everyday wear. Men often prefer a wider band than the settings here, so check the band width on the listing before ordering.
Are Rose Gold Moissanite Engagement Rings a Good Idea?
They can be. Each of the settings here holds a center stone you choose, though Brilliant Earth sells its settings only with its own diamonds, so a moissanite center means a Rare Carat setting or another jeweler. Moissanite is a white stone, and it shows the same contrast against pink metal that a white diamond does.
Do Unique Rose Gold Engagement Rings Cost More?
Not because of the rose gold. On the Rare Carat settings we priced, the rose version cost the same as white or yellow, or less. A more detailed design costs more because of its accent stones and metalwork: the vine-patterned Garland and the cluster Melody are the two most expensive picks here.
