The price of men’s white gold wedding bands is set mostly by width, and on the same design each extra millimeter added a few hundred dollars on 6 November 2026. The six picks below are solid white gold bands from Rare Carat, priced $500 to $2,230, from a slim 3 millimeter low dome to a 7 millimeter Celtic knot. Our overall pick is the 6 millimeter version of that low dome, because its page prices 14K, 18K and platinum side by side and the 18K step is small.

How We Chose

What Width Costs in White Gold

This is the number the listings show and the comparison sites do not: on one design, at one karat, how the price moves as the band gets wider.

The Same Band at Four Widths

Rare Carat sells its Low Dome Comfort-Fit Polished Band in several widths, and the 3 millimeter page lists the 4 and 5 millimeter prices too. These are the 14K white gold prices on 6 November 2026.

Width14K white gold18K white goldPlatinum
3mm500 dollars680 dollars595 dollars
4mm715 dollars945 dollars930 dollars
5mm1,005 dollars1,095 dollars1,215 dollars
6mm1,245 dollars1,320 dollars1,495 dollars

Going from 3 to 6 millimeters more than doubles the price in 14K white gold. A wider band uses more metal, and in gold the metal is most of the cost of a plain ring. That is why the cheapest solid gold men’s bands are usually narrow.

Choosing a Width

Width is mostly about proportion. A slim band can look lost on a large hand, and a very wide one can feel stiff between the fingers. Our guide to men’s wedding band width goes through how width and finger size work together. If budget decides it, the 4 millimeter version of the low dome is the cheapest way into a band most men would not call narrow.

Comfort Fit

Five of the six picks are listed as comfort fit, with a rounded interior. The Celtic knot band does not state its fit. A comfort fit band can feel different from a flat-interior band of the same size, so if you are switching between the two, read our page on comfortable wedding bands before you choose a size.

14K vs 18K White Gold, and Platinum

Karat changes less about the look of white gold than about its price, and the price step is not the same from one design to the next.

What the Karat Changes

GIA’s 2015 guide puts 14K white gold at 583 parts pure gold and 417 parts other metals per thousand, and 18K at 750 and 250. GIA’s 2025 guide describes white gold’s finish as rhodium, and that plating is the white you see, so the extra gold in 18K is not what you notice on day one. GIA’s 2025 guide calls both karats suitable for everyday wear. For the full trade-off, see our guide to 14K vs 18K gold.

How Much 18K Costs

On the plain dome at 6 millimeters, 18K white gold costs less than $100 more than 14K. On the Carina, the step is about 40%, and on the Celtic knot it is more than $900. The jeweler and the width are the same; the design is what changes it. Always price 18K on the exact band you want rather than assuming a fixed premium.

When Platinum Costs Less Than 18K

At 3 and 4 millimeters on the low dome, platinum cost less than 18K white gold on 6 November 2026. From 5 millimeters up, platinum was the most expensive of the three. On the Carina and the Celtic knot, platinum was the dearest by a wide margin. GIA’s 2015 guide describes platinum as denser and stronger than gold. For how the two white metals age and what upkeep each needs, see our comparison of platinum vs white gold.

Living With a White Gold Band

White gold is a plated metal in practice, and that is the part of the purchase the price tag does not show.

Rhodium Replating

GIA says the rhodium plating on white gold will wear away gradually over time, requiring the ring to be replated occasionally. Its 2025 guide adds that as the plating wears away, the ring may start to appear warm in color. Neither GIA guide we read gives a replating interval, and we found no other source that does, so treat any fixed schedule you are quoted as the jeweler’s estimate. None of the six listings states whether replating is included in Rare Carat’s lifetime guarantee, so ask before you buy if that matters to you.

Nickel and Sensitive Skin

GIA writes that people allergic to nickel should avoid white gold alloyed with this metal, and it names palladium as the other whitening metal. None of the six listings says which one its alloy uses. If you have ever reacted to a watch buckle or a belt, ask in writing, and read our guide to hypoallergenic wedding bands first.

Finish and Scratches

A high polish shows every fine scratch; a brushed, wire or etched finish hides them. The Etched Grain and Flat Concave bands are the two picks whose surface works in your favor here. A polished low dome can be taken back to a mirror shine by a jeweler, while a pattern like the etched grain has to be recut to match. For a routine between visits, see how to clean a gold ring.

White Gold vs Yellow Gold for a Man’s Band

Brilliant Earth’s 2026 guide says white gold was introduced in the 1920s as a more affordable alternative to platinum. Today it is chosen mainly for color: a white band matches a watch, a white metal engagement ring or simply a cooler tone. Yellow gold has no plating to wear off, and the Low Dome band costs the same in 14K yellow and 14K white on the pages we read, so the choice is about looks and upkeep rather than money. Our guide to white gold vs yellow gold covers it in full, and our men’s wedding band styles guide covers profiles and finishes across metals.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is 14K or 18K White Gold Better for a Men’s Wedding Band?

Neither is better for wear; GIA’s 2025 guide rates both suitable for everyday use. 18K holds more gold, 750 parts per thousand against 583, and costs more, by an amount that changed from band to band on the listings we read. Under rhodium plating the two look almost identical, so 14K is usually the practical choice.

Is a 6mm Wedding Band Good for a Man?

It is a common width for men, and four of our six picks are 6 or 7 millimeters. On Rare Carat’s low dome, the 6 millimeter version cost more than double the 3 millimeter one in 14K white gold, so width is the main thing you pay for. Try a width on before committing.

Do Two-Tone Men’s Wedding Bands Come in White Gold?

Yes. Rare Carat lists its Etched Grain Beveled Edge band in white with yellow and white with rose gold combinations, at the same price as solid 14K white gold on 6 November 2026. A two-tone band keeps a white center with a warm edge, or the reverse, without a higher price on that design.

Does White Gold Turn Yellow on a Man’s Ring?

It can start to look warmer over time. GIA explains that the bright white comes from rhodium plating, which wears away gradually, and that the ring may then appear warm in color. Replating restores it. How fast that happens depends on how hard the band is worn, and neither GIA guide we read puts a number on it.
